Portrait Study from Photo

Here's a photo study i just finished. My aim was to infuse the reference with a painterly quality and improve shape design as well as light/colour. Took out tons of detail, changed background, added beard to get better interlocking shapes of dark, added reflected light lost in the photo and adjusted the colours to get a cool-warm contrast rather than the warm overcast of the photo.
